The Pike’s Peak Gold Rush in 1859 began the expansion of the City of Denver. The population in 1859 was 5,000. After the arrival of the railroad the population soared to 107,000 in 1870.  Denver’s air became polluted and there was an exodus to outlying areas by the wealthy.

The expansion of public transportation made the development of the Capitol Hill area a possibility.  This area was divided into several subdivisions, and in the 1970s the name Congress Park was given to one of these that had actually evolved between 1890 and 1924.  Congress Park’s development was stimulated by the construction of water reservoirs and a neighborhood park. The average listing in Congress Park is $488,854, while the median sales price is $355,800. The houses are well-kept and spacious and the area is one that is desirable.
