South of downtown Denver along the Platte River lies Ruby Hill, at the point where route Interstate 25, Mississippi Avenue and Evans Avenue cross the region. Red, garnet type stones were found along the Platte River, giving the area its name. Ruby Hill Park, with its high elevation, is a great spot to view all of Denver. It was once a lookout for Native Americans.
